Two Projects Worth of 18 Million Afghanis Launched in District 8 of Jalalabad City

Deputy Mayor of Jalalabad, Mawlawi Mohammad Eshaq Saeed, said that two infrastructure projects have been launched in neighborhoods 24 and 42 of District 8, focused on the construction of roads and drainage systems, with a total budget of 18 million Afghanis.

Mr. Saeed further added that the projects are being implemented with financial support from the World Bank and technical cooperation from the (UNOPS) organization. The construction includes 1,500 meters of road and drainage systems, each 5 meters wide.

According to him, the projects are expected to be completed within four months. He also mentioned that employment opportunities have been provided for 120 workers through these two projects.

Hundreds of Drug Addicts Reintegrated with Their Families After Treatment in Herat

Officials in Herat province reported, that 400 drug addicts, who had previously been collected from various areas of the province by the Counter-Narcotics Directorate, have been discharged and handed over to their families in good health after completing a three-month treatment program. However, the process was carried out by a designated committee.

High-Tonnage Weighbridge Constructed and Commissioned at Torkham Customs

The Ministry of Finance announced that the General Directorate of Customs has constructed and commissioned a high-tonnage weighbridge at Torkham Customs at a cost of 3.5 million Afghanis, aimed at determining the weight of imported goods. According to the ministry of finance the weighbridge measures 22 meters in length and 3 meters in width, with the capacity to measure up to 120 tons of weight. Additionally, with the installation of this weighbridge, it is expected to prevent revenue loss and overloading, while also significantly accelerating the customs clearance process for commercial goods. It is worth noting that the project was funded by the Ministry of Finance’s development budget and implemented by an Afghan company.

Turkish Consul General, Alongside Afghan-Turk Maarif Delegation, Met with the Governor of Herat

In this meeting, the Turkish Consul General, the Afghan-Turk Maarif delegation, and graduates and students of higher education in Turkey met with Sheikh Mawlana Islamjar, the honorable governor of Herat. Along side, they discussed the educational programs of the Afghan-Turk schools and the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
