Younes Yousafzai, the spokesperson for the acting governor of Laghman province, told to Police Radio that over the course of one week, the Counter-Narcotics Department, in cooperation with security forces, arrested 8 individuals in Mehtarlam city and various districts on charges of purchasing, selling, and trafficking narcotics.

Mr. Yousafzai added that the arrested individuals were found in possession of 78 grams of hashish and 2.5 grams of methamphetamine ("shisha").

According to him, the department has launched strict security operations in Mehtarlam and surrounding districts targeting traffickers and dealers, and individuals involved in such crimes will soon be apprehended.
