11 Illegal Diggers Arrested During Excavation of Historical Site in Helmand
Last night, in the Qala Bast area of Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand province, 11 illegal diggers were arrested by the 012 Security Unit under the Directorate of Information and Culture during excavation activities at the historical site of Shahzada Hussain Cemetery.
The head of the Directorate of Information and Culture, Alhaj Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid, said that these 11 individuals were caught by the 012 Security Unit while digging at the Shahzada Hussain Cemetery, a historical area.
He added that the arrested individuals were found with pickaxes, shovels, food transportation equipment, and several other items. After investigations, they will be handed over to the relevant judicial and legal authorities.
Mr. Rashid stated that the Directorate of Information and Culture, with the assistance of the 012 Security Unit, is protecting all historical sites and does not allow anyone to interfere with or seize these sites.
Additionally, he called on all residents of Helmand to cooperate with the Islamic Emirate’s officials and security forces in protecting historical sites, and urged them to immediately report anyone damaging such sites to the Helmand Directorate of Information and Culture or nearby security forces.
