Mirwais Azizi Foundation Launches One-Billion Afghani Aid Initiative for Afghan Returnees
The Azizi Charity Foundation has begun distributing humanitarian aid to Afghan returnees from Iran at the Islam Qala border in Herat province.
Mohammad Khan Danishju, (CEO) of the foundation, said that the aid distribution funded by one billion Afghanis was launched under the directive of Mirwais Azizi, a prominent national businessman and head of the Azizi Group.
According to Danishju, in the first phase of the initiative, 5,000 food packages are being distributed daily to migrant families.
Highlighting the overcrowding at the Islam Qala border, Danishju added that construction of a standard shelter facility has also begun to help address temporary housing challenges and reduce prolonged waiting times for returnees.
He further noted that the aid efforts will continue consistently and will not cease until the full repatriation of Afghan migrants from Iran is achieved.
However, the one-billion Afghani assistance package includes transportation of returnees to their home provinces, food distribution, healthcare services, temporary shelter construction, and employment opportunities for migrants.
Meanwhile, Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hijrat, head of the Committee for Migrant Affairs at the Islam Qala border, welcomed the support from charitable foundations and private organizations, calling it a vital step toward alleviating the difficulties faced by returnees.
This initiative follows a recent statement by Mirwais Azizi, in which he pledged the one-billion Afghani aid package and called on other national businessmen to contribute to this humanitarian effort.
