At Herat Regional Hospital, nearly five thousand surgical operations were performed in three months
Officials at Herat Regional Hospital said, that during the first three months of the current year, close to five thousand surgical operations were carried out, most of which were successfully completed.
Dr. Abdulsalam Rashid, head of the hospital’s operating theater, stated that if these surgeries had been performed at private healthcare centers, the cost would have reached up to fifty thousand Afghanis.
According to him, these operations include general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, and other specialties, all successfully conducted thanks to the available facilities and specialized doctors.
Meanwhile, several patients who underwent surgery free of charge expressed satisfaction with the services provided and said that if they had gone to private centers, they would not have been able to afford the treatment costs.
The hospital has various specialized departments such as general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, internal medicine, and neurology, and plays an important role in providing healthcare services in the western region of the country.
