Launch of Vocational Training Program for 500 Recovered Addicts in Balkh

The Counter-Narcotics Directorate of the Balkh Provincial Police Command inaugurated a vocational training center for 500 recovered drug addicts at the 1000-bed hospital.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mawlawi Mohammad Zahir, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs; Mawlawi Nurulhadi Abuadris, Deputy Governor of Balkh; Mawlawi Abdul Rahim Qanit, Head of Labor and Social Affairs; and several other officials.

Based on reports, Mawlawi Mohammad Zahir, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, welcomed the initiative and described it as an effective step toward helping individuals return to a healthy and productive life.

Four drug addicts recover after treatment in Samangan

Hashmatullah Rahmani, spokesperson for Samangan police, said four drug addicts who had earlier been collected from the provincial capital by the counter-narcotics department have completed treatment at the 30-bed clinic in Hazrat Sultan district and returned to their families. Mr. Rahamani added, that two other addicts have recently been taken into care and referred to the rehabilitation centre for treatment.

Dozens of drug addicts return to families after treatment in Baghlan

Baghlan police spokesperson Mawlawi Shir Ahmad Burhani said 48 drug addicts have been discharged from the provincial rehabilitation centre after completing 45 to 90-day treatment programmes and reunited with their families. He further added, that since the Islamic Emirate came to power, more than 4,000 addicts have undergone treatment in Baghlan, while a further 180 people are currently receiving care at the centre.

66 drug addicts transferred from Nangarhar to Kabul for treatment

Nangarhar police said, that 66 drug addicts were rounded up from various parts of Jalalabad city and surrounding districts by the counter-narcotics department and sent to Omid Hospital in Kabul for treatment. According to officials, the patients will remain under the supervision of specialist doctors until their health improves and they are able to return to normal life.
