Traditional Wrestling Competitions Mark Anniversary of Afghanistan’s Independence in Takhar

Traditional wrestling competitions were held in Taleqan city of Takhar province, to mark August 15, the fourth anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

In this competition, around 100 athletes from the provincial capital and various districts took part in the event, which concluded successfully.

On other side, the competitions were organized by the provincial branch of the Kurash Federation. At the closing ceremony, sporting gifts were presented to 50 of the top athletes.

Today’s match began with Afghanistan batting first, setting a target of 211 runs for Zimbabwe. In response, Zimbabwe played all its overs but managed to score only 201 runs, falling short of the target. It is worth noting that Afghan player Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored the highest runs in the match with 92, followed by Ibrahim Zadran, who made 60 runs off 49 balls.

Afghanistan’s national under-17 futsal team has won the Asian Championship

Afghanistan’s national under-17 futsal team has become the champion of the 2025 Asian Youth Championship after defeating Iran. In the final match, Afghanistan’s U-17 futsal team triumphed over Iran with a score of 2–1, securing the gold medal in the tournament. Basically, this marks Afghanistan’s first-ever championship title in the history of the U-17 Asian Futsal competitions.
