Arrest of 100 individuals and seizure of 20,000 narcotic tablets in Herat

Officials from the Herat Counter-Narcotics Department say that around 100 individuals have been arrested in the past month in connection with drug trafficking and sales in the province.

Maulvi Hayatullah Rohani, Director General of Counter-Narcotics in Herat, stated that various types of narcotics were seized from those arrested and handed over to the judiciary for legal proceedings.

According to him, over the past month, 136 kilograms of opium, hashish, and heroin, as well as dozens of types of narcotic tablets, were confiscated from traffickers and sellers.

Mr. Rohani further added, that in just one month, more than 20,000 narcotic tablets were collected from pharmacies, vendors, and individuals.

Ten casualties in Laghman traffic accident

Officials in Laghman province said, a traffic accident on the Kabul–Jalalabad highway has left two individuals dead and eight others injured. The provincial administration reported that the crash occurred around 1:30pm in the Khero Khil area of Qarghayo district, when two Toyota Fielder vehicles collided due to reckless driving. Among the victims were women. Traffic officials arrived at the scene shortly after the accident, and the wounded were taken to Nangarhar regional hospital for treatment. However, health sources said the condition of the injured was stable.

2.2 Million Afghanis Recovered, Four Armed Robbers Arrested in Herat

Officials at the Herat Police Command said, that security forces have arrested four armed robbers in connection with the theft of 2.2 million Afghanis in cash. According to the police, the arrests were made during an intelligence operation carried out by personnel of the Fourth Security District. Ghulam Nabi Nabi Zada, spokesperson for the Herat Police Command, told to Police Radio Agency that the detainees confessed to their crime during preliminary investigations. He further added, that their case files will be referred to judicial authorities for legal proceedings once the investigations are completed.

Three individuals arrested in Herat for robberies using sedatives

Herat police spokesperson Ghulam Nabi Nabi Zada said three individuals have been arrested for allegedly drugging victims with sedatives and stealing their belongings in different parts of the city. Mawlawi Shah Wali Rahmat, head of Herat’s anti-crime department, said the suspects mixed sleeping medicine into drinks to render people unconscious before committing the thefts. He added that the arrests were made by the department for combating crimes, in coordination with the units for cybercrime and abductions.
