Bao Xuhui Hands Over Cash Assistance to ARCS
The Chinese Charge d’Affaires Bao Xuhui met with Shaikh Shahabudin Dilawer, President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), to formally hand over an emergency humanitarian cash assistance of US$200,000, the Chinese Embassy said in a statement Friday.
This donation, provided by the Red Cross Society of China, aims to support Afghanistan’s ongoing earthquake relief efforts, the statement said.
Bao Xuhui extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi to the families who lost loved ones, the injured, and all affected by the recent earthquake.
He said, “The Chinese government is committed to providing Afghanistan with 50 million yuan (approximately 7.04 million U.S. dollars) in emergency humanitarian aid. Alongside this cash assistance, the Chinese Embassy, Chinese institutions, and the Overseas Chinese Association in Afghanistan have also mobilized donations of cash and relief supplies.”
Bao highlighted that these efforts reflect the deep and sincere friendship between the Chinese government and people and their Afghan counterparts, according to the statement.
Expressing confidence in Afghanistan’s resilience, Bao stated, “Under the leadership of the Afghan government, the affected communities will surely overcome these challenges and rebuild their lives as quickly as possible.”
Meanwhile, Shaikh Shahabudin Dilawer briefed the delegation on the scale of the earthquake disaster and the emergency relief activities conducted by the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
He praised China’s timely condolences and generous assistance, describing them as a true reflection of China’s goodwill and longstanding friendship with Afghanistan.
