238,700 Afghans Return from Iran and Pakistan in One Month
The Commission for Addressing Refugees’ Issues said in a statement the other day that 238,700 Afghans have returned from Iran and Pakistan over the past month.
“The forced return of Afghans is continuing, and 238,700 have come back in just one month,” Ahmadullah Wasiq, the commission’s spokesman, stated, adding that the government is coordinating their relocation.
Many returnees are now calling on the Islamic Emirate to address urgent needs, including shelter, employment, education for their children, and support for lost property.
The Commission assured that efforts are underway to improve services and support for returnees across key sectors.
Since the large-scale return of Afghan migrants and refugees from neighboring countries, particularly Iran and Pakistan, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has taken a series of measures to address their immediate and long-term needs.
