Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan, has said that the fighting between Pakistan's soldiers and the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has caused numerous military and civilian casualties.

He stated that the time has come to change the military approach and pursue negotiations instead.

On other side, Khalilzad emphasized that if the government of Pakistan continues to seek a military solution, it is making a mistake.
