UK, Portugal, Canada, Australia and France Recognize Palestine as an Independent State


The five countries announced on Sunday that they now officially recognize Palestine as an independent state, bringing the total number of countries recognizing Palestine to 147.

French President Emmanuel Macron said this is the only viable political solution, adding that Palestinian leaders are expected to welcome the move.

However, Hamas stressed that the recognition must be accompanied by a ceasefire in Gaza.

Trump threatened the Nigerian government with military action

U.S. President Donald Trump, in response to what he described as the massacre of Christians in Nigeria, has warned the Nigerian government that Washington may cut aid and cooperation, and that U.S. military forces could be deployed to Nigeria. Trump made this statement early today (Sunday, November 1) in a message on his social media platform, Truth Social. The former president urged the Nigerian government to stop the killings of Christians in the country and ordered the Pentagon to be prepared for a potential action in Nigeria.

Syrian President Ahmed Shar’ah is expected to visit Washington

The U.S. Special Envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, has said that Syrian President Ahmed Shar’ah is expected to visit Washington. Reuters reported that this would be the first visit of a Syrian leader to the U.S. capital. According to a White House official, the visit is expected to take place around November 10. Meanwhile, Syrian officials have also stated that the visit is anticipated within the next two weeks.
