Futsal Tournament Kicks Off in Balkh with 14 Teams


A futsal tournament featuring 14 teams has begun in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, organized by the National Futsal Federation’s provincial branch in cooperation with the Balkh Department of Physical Education and Sports.


In the opening match, the Ainuddin team defeated the Setargan (Stars) team 1–0 to claim victory in the first game of the competition.

Today’s match began with Afghanistan batting first, setting a target of 211 runs for Zimbabwe. In response, Zimbabwe played all its overs but managed to score only 201 runs, falling short of the target. It is worth noting that Afghan player Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored the highest runs in the match with 92, followed by Ibrahim Zadran, who made 60 runs off 49 balls.

Afghanistan’s national under-17 futsal team has won the Asian Championship

Afghanistan’s national under-17 futsal team has become the champion of the 2025 Asian Youth Championship after defeating Iran. In the final match, Afghanistan’s U-17 futsal team triumphed over Iran with a score of 2–1, securing the gold medal in the tournament. Basically, this marks Afghanistan’s first-ever championship title in the history of the U-17 Asian Futsal competitions.
