During the past week, the Helmand provincial customs sub-offices, through their mobile teams in Lashkargah city and the Rabat and border areas of Bahramcha district, prevented the illegal import of 23 tons of food and non-food items.

Haji Haqmal, head of the provincial customs sub-offices, said that a number of individuals attempted to smuggle 23 tons of food and non-food goods into Helmand province without paying customs duties using five cargo trucks, but the mobile teams of the relevant offices intercepted the attempt.

Reports added, In connection with the seized trucks and goods, 11 individuals were arrested by the mobile teams and handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
