The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has said in a statement that around 450 square kilometers of farmland in eastern Afghanistan has been put at risk following the recent earthquake, severely affecting local agricultural and livelihood resources.


According to the statement, more than 500,000 livestock are also facing serious threats.


The organization added, that it has launched vaccination campaigns in the affected areas to protect the remaining animals and prevent the spread of diseases.
