Participation of Deputy Minister for Railways at the Ministry of Public Works in the International Railway Conference

Mawlawi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, Deputy Minister for Railways at the Ministry of Public Works, along with his accompanying delegation, participated in the International Railway Conference and Exhibition held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.


On the sidelines of the conference, Mawlawi Sahibzada met with officials and technical teams from the UAE, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan railways, where they discussed strengthening cooperation and investment in Afghanistan’s railway projects.


It is noteworthy that a special booth dedicated to Afghanistan’s railway network was set up at the exhibition, providing detailed information about the Herat–Farah–Nimroz–Helmand–Kandahar railway project.

Four killed and three injured in last night’s earthquake in Sar-e-Pul

An earthquake that struck Sar-e-Pul province last night claimed the lives of four individuals and left three others injured. The quake also destroyed 11 houses in the villages of Sardarah in Kohistanat district and Kalter in Al-Jihad district. According to officials from the Sar-e-Pul Provincial Directorate for Disaster Management, three individuals lost their lives along the Tangi Tashqurghan route, while a child died in the village of Kohna Qishlaq. Further more, Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the affected areas, and assessments are ongoing to identify potential additional damage.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in a statement, expressed its condolences to the families affected by last night’s earthquake, which occurred in the provinces of Samangan, Balkh, Baghlan, Kunduz, and several other areas. It prayed for Paradise for the martyrs and a swift recovery for the injured. In the message, all relevant officials and departments of the Islamic Emirate were instructed to deliver medical, food, and other forms of assistance to the affected areas, to work on rescuing those trapped under the debris, and to take necessary measures to support the families, including the provision of tents and other essential supplies.

Zalmay Khalilzad expresses sorrow over the earthquake in northern Afghanistan

Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. Special Envoy for Afghan Peace, expressed his sorrow on X over the earthquake that struck the northern provinces of Afghanistan. He also expressed sadness over the loss of lives and the damage caused to the Rawzah (shrine) in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
