Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, in Moscow.


The two sides held comprehensive discussions on strengthening political relations, expanding economic cooperation, and addressing regional issues.


Mr. Muttaqi described Russia’s decision to recognize the Islamic Emirate as a “historic development” in the course of bilateral relations, stating that this decision has opened new avenues for political and economic cooperation and elevated Afghanistan’s position on the global stage.


The Foreign Minister also emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in combating narcotics, advancing economic projects, and developing transportation corridors.


For his part, Sergey Lavrov said that this decision has created unprecedented opportunities for political, economic, and international cooperation between Kabul and Moscow.


He also praised the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in combating narcotics and ensuring security, calling its achievements and independent stance beneficial for the region.
