Syrian Government Announces Broad Ceasefire with Kurdish Forces
According to international reports, the Syrian government has announced a broad ceasefire with Kurdish forces.
The decision came after Syrian Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra met with Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in northern Aleppo following recent deadly clashes in the area.
Reports indicate that the meeting took place after an escalation of violence, and both sides agreed to a ceasefire across all fronts in the northern and northeastern regions, including areas where government forces are stationed.
On Tuesday, Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra wrote on his X account that during his meeting with Mazloum Abdi, both sides agreed on practical steps toward establishing peace and stability.
According to Agence France-Presse, citing a government source, the meeting followed earlier talks between Mazloum Abdi and Ahmad al-Shar’a, a representative of the Syrian government delegation.
