The eighth cabinet meeting discussed the determination of the railway gauge and the process of land distribution to returnees
The eighth cabinet meeting of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, chaired by Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Prime Minister, was held recently.
During the meeting, a report by a delegation regarding the determination of the gauge (width) of the “New Afghan Trans” railway line from Hairatan to Spin Boldak was approved. According to the report, the railway gauge should be set at 1520 mm, while the 1435 mm gauge should also be taken into consideration.
The meeting also decided that Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs and Head of the High Commission for Refugees, should summon the provincial refugee committees to review their activities. The goal is to accelerate the process of land distribution to eligible recipients and ensure that the land is allocated as soon as possible, while also identifying obstacles that have delayed the process in certain areas.
