Increase in tomato prices in Pakistan to 650 rupees
Pakistani media have reported that the price of tomatoes in the country has risen to 650 rupees per kilogram, making them difficult for people to afford.
According to reports, in major cities including Islamabad, the price of one kilogram of tomatoes was 100 rupees just a month ago, but after the closure of border routes with Afghanistan, the price has surged to 650 rupees.
Pakistani outlets also wrote that, in addition to tomatoes, the prices of grapes, pomegranates, and apples have also increased, and people are struggling to obtain them.
This comes after Islamabad closed all trade routes following the conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan, a move that has caused serious hardships for its own citizens.
