Minister of Industry and Commerce, Noureddin Azizi, met with Bayramurad Annamamedov, Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of Turkmenistan

Minister of Industry and Commerce, Noureddin Azizi, met with Bayramurad Annamamedov, Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of Turkmenistan, on the sidelines of the 30th International Oil and Gas Exhibition.


According to the Ministry, both sides emphasized the importance of the TAPI mega-project, describing it as a significant economic achievement for the regional countries, particularly Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.


The meeting welcomed the launch of the second phase of the project, calling it an effective step toward industrial development, economic cooperation, and the expansion of regional trade.


Mr. Azizi expressed support for strengthening economic relations between the two countries and requested Turkmenistan to take urgent measures to resolve issues faced by Afghan traders, especially cases where payments have been made but goods have not yet been received.


The Ministry’s statement added that both sides assured the continuation of close cooperation and committed to follow up on the discussed matters.

Four killed and three injured in last night’s earthquake in Sar-e-Pul

An earthquake that struck Sar-e-Pul province last night claimed the lives of four individuals and left three others injured. The quake also destroyed 11 houses in the villages of Sardarah in Kohistanat district and Kalter in Al-Jihad district. According to officials from the Sar-e-Pul Provincial Directorate for Disaster Management, three individuals lost their lives along the Tangi Tashqurghan route, while a child died in the village of Kohna Qishlaq. Further more, Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the affected areas, and assessments are ongoing to identify potential additional damage.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in a statement, expressed its condolences to the families affected by last night’s earthquake, which occurred in the provinces of Samangan, Balkh, Baghlan, Kunduz, and several other areas. It prayed for Paradise for the martyrs and a swift recovery for the injured. In the message, all relevant officials and departments of the Islamic Emirate were instructed to deliver medical, food, and other forms of assistance to the affected areas, to work on rescuing those trapped under the debris, and to take necessary measures to support the families, including the provision of tents and other essential supplies.

Zalmay Khalilzad expresses sorrow over the earthquake in northern Afghanistan

Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. Special Envoy for Afghan Peace, expressed his sorrow on X over the earthquake that struck the northern provinces of Afghanistan. He also expressed sadness over the loss of lives and the damage caused to the Rawzah (shrine) in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
