The United Nations, marking November 2 as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, has stated that Gaza has been the deadliest place for journalists in modern history.

The organization added that nearly nine out of ten cases of journalist killings worldwide remain uninvestigated.

According to data from the UN Human Rights Office, since October 7, 2023, at least 248 journalists have been killed in Gaza — a figure the organization says is higher than in any other conflict in modern times.
