Trump threatened the Nigerian government with military action


U.S. President Donald Trump, in response to what he described as the massacre of Christians in Nigeria, has warned the Nigerian government that Washington may cut aid and cooperation, and that U.S. military forces could be deployed to Nigeria.


Trump made this statement early today (Sunday, November 1) in a message on his social media platform, Truth Social.


The former president urged the Nigerian government to stop the killings of Christians in the country and ordered the Pentagon to be prepared for a potential action in Nigeria.

The U.S. Special Envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, has said that Syrian President Ahmed Shar’ah is expected to visit Washington. Reuters reported that this would be the first visit of a Syrian leader to the U.S. capital. According to a White House official, the visit is expected to take place around November 10. Meanwhile, Syrian officials have also stated that the visit is anticipated within the next two weeks.

The United Nations, marking November 2 as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, has stated that Gaza has been the deadliest place for journalists in modern history. The organization added that nearly nine out of ten cases of journalist killings worldwide remain uninvestigated. According to data from the UN Human Rights Office, since October 7, 2023, at least 248 journalists have been killed in Gaza — a figure the organization says is higher than in any other conflict in modern times.
