The United Nations Security Council has removed Ahmad al-Shar’a’s name from the sanctions list
The United Nations Security Council, with support from the United States, has voted in favor of a proposal under which the names of Ahmad al-Shar’a, Syria’s president, and Anas Khettab, the country’s minister of interior, will be removed from the global sanctions list.
Syria’s state news agency reported that this decision is regarded as an important step toward improving the political situation in Syria and strengthening negotiations with the international community.
