The delegation from the Ministry of Public Works of Afghanistan participated in the International Transport and Logistics Forum and Exhibition in Uzbekistan


Mawlawi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, Deputy of Railways at the Ministry of Public Works, led a delegation and participated in the International Transport and Logistics Forum and Exhibition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.


During the forum and exhibition, projects, achievements, and new technologies in the field of transport and logistics were introduced and showcased.


Additionally, on the sidelines of the exhibition, Mawlawi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada held separate meetings with representatives and officials from the railways of the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and representatives of the countries involved in the Afghan-Trans project. The discussions focused on the construction of the Herat-Kandahar railway and the commencement of its practical work, transit fee reductions for Afghanistan’s trade goods from China and vice versa via Kazakhstan, the initiation of technical and economic studies for the Afghan-Trans project, facilitation and reductions for transporting trade goods through Uzbekistan’s railway, and providing additional support and facilities for traders.

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs met with Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mullah Abdul Manan Omari, met with Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Alireza Bekdeli. During the meeting, discussions focused on bilateral labor relations, the legal transfer of workers to Iran, better organization of the workforce, expansion of joint cooperation, and particularly the assessment of the situation of Afghan refugees. It is noted, the Iranian ambassador also invited the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs to visit Tehran, adding that his country is eager to engage in labor force exchanges with Afghanistan.

Justice minister responds to claims over his son’s and wife’s property ownership

Mawlawi Abdul Hakim Shari’i, the Justice Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has responded to allegations raised recently, according to a written reply released by the ministry’s spokesperson. Addressing claims that his son owns a commercial office in New Kabul, he said he has no son named “Osman” and that none of his sons owns a business office. Responding to allegations of land ownership in his wife’s name, the justice minister said that while there is no religious or customary prohibition in this regard, no land in his family has been registered in the name of a woman, nor does his wife own any land. In the statement, Mawlawi Abdul Hakim Shari’i also addressed several other allegations made against him.

EU stresses safe return of Afghan nationals from Pakistan

The European Union and Pakistan discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the country’s humanitarian needs during the 15th session of their Joint Commission, held in Brussels. According to a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the EU stressed that any return of Afghan nationals from Pakistan to Afghanistan must be “safe, dignified and in line with international standards”. The EU also welcomed ongoing talks between Pakistan and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees aimed at identifying and registering “vulnerable cases” to ensure they receive appropriate support.
