Turkey’s Foreign Minister Visits Iran

 

Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, arrived in Tehran today (Sunday) with his accompanying delegation to meet and hold talks with Iranian officials on bilateral relations, regional developments, and key international issues.


According to Iranian media, the Turkish official has so far met with Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, and is scheduled to meet with several other Iranian officials as well.


Earlier, Pakistani media had reported that a Turkish delegation would travel to Pakistan to help resolve tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.

Pakistan to Hand Over PIA to Private Sector Amid Economic Difficulties

Reuters has reported that a business consortium has emerged as the top bidder to acquire a 75% stake in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The consortium submitted the highest bid for the national carrier. The Pakistani government said, it can no longer afford to run the airline due to persistent financial losses and therefore plans to transfer PIA to the private sector.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, has held a telephone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi. According to a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and regional developments, and reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation in support of regional peace and development. It is mentionable, strengthening cooperation in the areas of trade, regional connectivity and people-to-people ties was also among the key topics discussed

Pakistani traders lose more than $4 million daily

Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper, quoting exporters, industrialists and traders, reported that they are losing more than $4 million a day due to the closure of trade routes with Afghanistan. Pakistani traders said Pakistan is rapidly losing its markets in Afghanistan and Central Asia because of the continued closure of commercial routes. Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, said that trade routes with Pakistan would only be reopened once strong and reliable guarantees are provided by the Pakistani government.
