Five Chinese citizens had killed near the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border last week


Five Chinese citizens were had killed and five others wounded in two attacks last week near the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border.


Reuters reported that the incident has been confirmed by Tajik authorities as well as the Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan.


The report added that the Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan has urged Chinese companies and nationals to immediately leave the border areas between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.


Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan condemned the first attack on Chinese citizens inside Tajik territory an attack in which three of them were killed and assured Tajikistan that, if the perpetrators are identified, Afghanistan is prepared to exchange information, provide technical cooperation, and conduct a joint assessment.

Pakistan to Hand Over PIA to Private Sector Amid Economic Difficulties

Reuters has reported that a business consortium has emerged as the top bidder to acquire a 75% stake in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The consortium submitted the highest bid for the national carrier. The Pakistani government said, it can no longer afford to run the airline due to persistent financial losses and therefore plans to transfer PIA to the private sector.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, has held a telephone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi. According to a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and regional developments, and reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation in support of regional peace and development. Pakistani traders lose more than $4 million daily

Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper, quoting exporters, industrialists and traders, reported that they are losing more than $4 million a day due to the closure of trade routes with Afghanistan. Pakistani traders said Pakistan is rapidly losing its markets in Afghanistan and Central Asia because of the continued closure of commercial routes. Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, said that trade routes with Pakistan would only be reopened once strong and reliable guarantees are provided by the Pakistani government.
