After the closure of key travel and trade routes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, pressure on Islamabad has increased. In this context, Mohammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s special envoy, has met with leading traders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to Mohammad Sadiq Khan, representatives of various trade associations from the tribal areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended the meeting.
He stated that the main focus of the discussion was militant activities and their impact on bilateral trade and the livelihoods of people on both sides of the border.
The prolonged closure of routes between Afghanistan and Pakistan has sparked widespread criticism inside Pakistan, as agricultural products are spoiling and farmers and orchard owners are suffering economic losses.
Images circulated on social media show large quantities of fruits and vegetables rotting, leaving producers in a difficult situation.
Overall, this trade deadlock has not only harmed the regional economy but has also increased pressure on Islamabad to find a solution.
