After three decades: Direct talks held between Israel and Lebanon

Representatives from Israel and Lebanon have held face-to-face talks in the Naqoura area for the first time in nearly three decades, with the United States acting as a mediator.


According to reports, the purpose of these discussions is to reduce border tensions and explore economic cooperation to strengthen stability in southern Lebanon.


Washington had reportedly made continuous efforts over the past months to facilitate this meeting.


The talks come after a recent Israeli airstrike in Beirut killed a senior Hezbollah military official, Haitham Ali Tabatabai, which had escalated tensions between the two sides.

Pakistan to Hand Over PIA to Private Sector Amid Economic Difficulties

Reuters has reported that a business consortium has emerged as the top bidder to acquire a 75% stake in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The consortium submitted the highest bid for the national carrier. The Pakistani government said, it can no longer afford to run the airline due to persistent financial losses and therefore plans to transfer PIA to the private sector.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, has held a telephone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi. According to a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and regional developments, and reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation in support of regional peace and development. It is mentionable, strengthening cooperation in the areas of trade, regional connectivity and people-to-people ties was also among the key topics discussed

Pakistani traders lose more than $4 million daily

Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper, quoting exporters, industrialists and traders, reported that they are losing more than $4 million a day due to the closure of trade routes with Afghanistan. Pakistani traders said Pakistan is rapidly losing its markets in Afghanistan and Central Asia because of the continued closure of commercial routes. Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, said that trade routes with Pakistan would only be reopened once strong and reliable guarantees are provided by the Pakistani government.
