An Emirati Oil and Gas Company was inaugurated and put into operation in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province.

In an important economic step, the Emirati Oil and Gas Company was officially inaugurated yesterday (Monday, May 26) this year, during a formal ceremony attended by local and central officials in Mazar-i-Sharif.


 Further more, this company was established with an investment of 25 million Afghanis over a period of six months and is considered one of the key projects in the energy and oil services sector in northern Afghanistan, playing a significant role in regional economic growth.

Abdul Waris Amiri, the company’s contracting manager, stated that the construction process was completed in a short time using local resources and the persistent efforts of technical teams. He also mentioned that the project directly and indirectly created job opportunities for hundreds of people, which is seen as a positive step towards reducing unemployment in Balkh province.

Local and central officials regard the inauguration of this company as a sign of opening opportunities for both domestic and foreign investment in the country. They believe that the establishment of such projects under the current conditions in Afghanistan indicates that there are still many opportunities for economic growth and sustainable development in the country.

Food Assistance Distributed to Hundreds of Needy Families in Herat Province

In coordination with the Counter-Narcotics Directorate of the Herat Police Command, the Department for Promotion of Virtue, and the Afghan Red Crescent Society, food aid was distributed to hundreds of men and women in the city. The assistance included various food items such as rice, sugar, oil, beans, and tea.

High-Tonnage Weighbridge Constructed and Commissioned at Torkham Customs

The Ministry of Finance announced that the General Directorate of Customs has constructed and commissioned a high-tonnage weighbridge at Torkham Customs at a cost of 3.5 million Afghanis, aimed at determining the weight of imported goods. According to the ministry of finance the weighbridge measures 22 meters in length and 3 meters in width, with the capacity to measure up to 120 tons of weight. Additionally, with the installation of this weighbridge, it is expected to prevent revenue loss and overloading, while also significantly accelerating the customs clearance process for commercial goods. It is worth noting that the project was funded by the Ministry of Finance’s development budget and implemented by an Afghan company.

Use of Solar Systems Increasing in Herat

Mawlawi Basheer Mohammad Seerat, the Head of the Herat Department of Industry and Commerce, said that due to the growing demand for solar systems, the production of solar equipment is rapidly progressing in the province's industrial park. On other side, a number of Herat residents, due to the ongoing fluctuations in electricity supply, have turned to using solar systems and have installed them in their homes and commercial centers.
