On 20th of the 12th month, a major auction took place under the initiative of Panjshir province leadership, where 4,776 carats of emeralds from the region were sold for a total value of approximately 468,600 US dollars. The event was attended by hundreds of domestic and international traders.

The auction was held with the presence of Mawlavi Mohammad Qasim Amiri, Head of Mines and Petroleum in Panjshir, along with dozens of national and international investors. The governor of Panjshir emphasized that their main focus is on reviving the local economy, boosting the private sector, and attracting committed investors. The goal is to create job opportunities and prosperity for the people of Panjshir by leveraging the province’s natural resources.

He stressed that the provincial leadership, in close coordination with the Ministry of Mines and relevant departments, aims to ensure the extraction and sale of precious stones are conducted in a standardized, transparent, and technical manner.

Haji Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim, Governor of Panjshir, added that since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, organized mining projects have started in the province. Besides local traders, dozens of investors from countries such as India, China, Russia, and some European nations have expressed willingness to invest in the precious stones sector.

 Meanwhile, the governor assured that the local administration is committed to continuously supporting traders, securing investments, and providing a legal framework for regional economic growth.

Currently, hundreds of young people in Panjshir have turned to precious stone trading and welcome the leadership’s support, stating that they have achieved significant progress in a short period.
