Improved Seeds and Agricultural Tools Distributed to Farmers in Nangarhar

Through the efforts of the Nangarhar Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, and with financial support from Cordaid and technical cooperation from the Rural Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (RRAA), improved hybrid maize seeds, chemical fertilizers, and agricultural tools were distributed to 303 farmers in the Bati Kot district.

The head of the Nangarhar Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, Mawlawi Mohammad Wali Mohsin, stated that each farmer received one kilogram of improved hybrid maize seeds, 25 kilograms of urea (black fertilizer), and 50 kilograms of DAP (white fertilizer) for half a jerib of land.

Mr. Mohsin Further  added that, in addition to these inputs, important agricultural tools were also distributed to the farmers.

Food Assistance Distributed to Hundreds of Needy Families in Herat Province

In coordination with the Counter-Narcotics Directorate of the Herat Police Command, the Department for Promotion of Virtue, and the Afghan Red Crescent Society, food aid was distributed to hundreds of men and women in the city. The assistance included various food items such as rice, sugar, oil, beans, and tea.

High-Tonnage Weighbridge Constructed and Commissioned at Torkham Customs

The Ministry of Finance announced that the General Directorate of Customs has constructed and commissioned a high-tonnage weighbridge at Torkham Customs at a cost of 3.5 million Afghanis, aimed at determining the weight of imported goods. According to the ministry of finance the weighbridge measures 22 meters in length and 3 meters in width, with the capacity to measure up to 120 tons of weight. Additionally, with the installation of this weighbridge, it is expected to prevent revenue loss and overloading, while also significantly accelerating the customs clearance process for commercial goods. It is worth noting that the project was funded by the Ministry of Finance’s development budget and implemented by an Afghan company.

Use of Solar Systems Increasing in Herat

Mawlawi Basheer Mohammad Seerat, the Head of the Herat Department of Industry and Commerce, said that due to the growing demand for solar systems, the production of solar equipment is rapidly progressing in the province's industrial park. On other side, a number of Herat residents, due to the ongoing fluctuations in electricity supply, have turned to using solar systems and have installed them in their homes and commercial centers.
