Asphalt Project Launched on the Road from Bakrabad Second Roundabout to Baharistan in Herat

According to officials from the Herat Municipality, the asphalt work has officially begun on the road stretching from the Second Roundabout of Bakrabad to Baharistan. This project, located in districts 3 and 4 of the city, spans 720 meters in length and 10.5 meters in width. It is being implemented with a total budget of 10.5 million Afghanis from the municipality’s development fund.

The project was inaugurated by Herat Mayor, Alhaj Mullah Nematullah Hasan Sahib, in the presence of several other officials. Before the asphalt work begins, water drainage canals and culverts will be constructed along the route.

Reports added, the contractor company has pledged to complete the project within the contracted timeframe and in accordance with quality standards.

Food Assistance Distributed to Hundreds of Needy Families in Herat Province

In coordination with the Counter-Narcotics Directorate of the Herat Police Command, the Department for Promotion of Virtue, and the Afghan Red Crescent Society, food aid was distributed to hundreds of men and women in the city. The assistance included various food items such as rice, sugar, oil, beans, and tea.

High-Tonnage Weighbridge Constructed and Commissioned at Torkham Customs

The Ministry of Finance announced that the General Directorate of Customs has constructed and commissioned a high-tonnage weighbridge at Torkham Customs at a cost of 3.5 million Afghanis, aimed at determining the weight of imported goods. According to the ministry of finance the weighbridge measures 22 meters in length and 3 meters in width, with the capacity to measure up to 120 tons of weight. Additionally, with the installation of this weighbridge, it is expected to prevent revenue loss and overloading, while also significantly accelerating the customs clearance process for commercial goods. It is worth noting that the project was funded by the Ministry of Finance’s development budget and implemented by an Afghan company.

Use of Solar Systems Increasing in Herat

Mawlawi Basheer Mohammad Seerat, the Head of the Herat Department of Industry and Commerce, said that due to the growing demand for solar systems, the production of solar equipment is rapidly progressing in the province's industrial park. On other side, a number of Herat residents, due to the ongoing fluctuations in electricity supply, have turned to using solar systems and have installed them in their homes and commercial centers.
