Herat Launches School Boundary Wall Construction Project Worth Over 15.7 Million Afghanis

Officials from the Herat Department of Education have announced the launch of a project to repair and construct boundary walls for six schools in the districts of Kushk Kuhna, Rabat Sangi, and Injil.

Mawlawi Rahmatullah Jaber, Head of the Herat Education Department, stated that the project is being implemented in cooperation with a partner organization and has a total value of over 15.7 million Afghanis.

He further emphasized that, the department's commitment to addressing the renovation needs of schools in collaboration with supporting organizations. The newly launched projects will be carried out in accordance with the standards and guidelines set by the Ministry of Education.

Food Assistance Distributed to Hundreds of Needy Families in Herat Province

In coordination with the Counter-Narcotics Directorate of the Herat Police Command, the Department for Promotion of Virtue, and the Afghan Red Crescent Society, food aid was distributed to hundreds of men and women in the city. The assistance included various food items such as rice, sugar, oil, beans, and tea.

High-Tonnage Weighbridge Constructed and Commissioned at Torkham Customs

The Ministry of Finance announced that the General Directorate of Customs has constructed and commissioned a high-tonnage weighbridge at Torkham Customs at a cost of 3.5 million Afghanis, aimed at determining the weight of imported goods. According to the ministry of finance the weighbridge measures 22 meters in length and 3 meters in width, with the capacity to measure up to 120 tons of weight. Additionally, with the installation of this weighbridge, it is expected to prevent revenue loss and overloading, while also significantly accelerating the customs clearance process for commercial goods. It is worth noting that the project was funded by the Ministry of Finance’s development budget and implemented by an Afghan company.

Use of Solar Systems Increasing in Herat

Mawlawi Basheer Mohammad Seerat, the Head of the Herat Department of Industry and Commerce, said that due to the growing demand for solar systems, the production of solar equipment is rapidly progressing in the province's industrial park. On other side, a number of Herat residents, due to the ongoing fluctuations in electricity supply, have turned to using solar systems and have installed them in their homes and commercial centers.
