Officials from the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of the province say that this year, fig yields in Herat have increased by 10 percent.

Bashir Ahmad Ahmadi, Director of Agricultural Extension at the department, stated that this year, approximately 10,000 tons of figs are expected to be harvested from 620 hectares of fig orchards.

Meanwhile, a number of farmers said, that  they have started cultivating yellow figs in recent years a variety that is well-suited to Herat’s soil and climate and produces satisfactory yields.
