Restoration of Amir Ali-Shir Nawai Monument Begins in Mazar-e-Sharif
Officials from the Mazar-e-Sharif Municipality announced today, Thursday, that the restoration and beautification of the monument of Amir Ali-Shir Nawai, the cultural and literary figure of the Timurid era, has officially begun with a new design and financial support from local residents of Balkh.
Abdul Rahman Hemmat, the mayor of Mazar-e-Sharif, said the project includes the construction of a memorial minaret, green space, and fencing. The work, with an estimated cost of about 1.5 million Afghanis, is expected to be completed within one month in the city’s third district.
