Over 95 million Afghanis worth of precious and semi-precious stones sold in Nuristan
Nuristan’s Department of Information and Culture said that the provincial Department of Mines and Petroleum has sold 9,000 kilograms of precious and semi-precious stones through an open auction in Doab district, generating 95,123,500 Afghanis.
Provincial mines director Mawlawi Sayed Rahim Omar said the stones – including beryl, kyanite, margarite and crystal – were extracted from the Mawi mines of Doab and auctioned today. He added that the sale would contribute 9,512,350 Afghanis in revenue to the state treasury.
That is while, the auction was attended by about 150 domestic traders as well as buyers from Chennai, India.
