The meeting of the Economic Commission was held with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar on the chair, discussing topics on the agenda, his office said in a statement Tuesday. The meeting discussed the plan for installing the electronic scanners across 12 national customs ports of the country by the private sector and the economic strategy outlined by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, the statement said. Under the presented plan, private investors are set to invest approximately 8 billion Afghani into the initiative through a public-private partnership. After the necessary assessment, the commission tasked the ministry as the primary policymaker for the initiative. Surveying, designing, and overseeing the project will fall under the ministry’s purview, while implementation will be overseen by relevant ministries and agencies.
