The foundation stone of the Rabia Balkhi Market was laid in Mazar-e-Sharif

In Mazar-e-Sharif city, the foundation stone for a new market named “Rabia Balkhi” was laid with a budget of AFN 18 million by the Mazar Municipality.


According to municipal officials, reported by Amid Radio, the market will be constructed in two phases: the first phase will include six floors, and in the second phase, two additional floors will be added.


Officials stated that the market will be built on a 1,250 square meter plot and will include parking spaces, shops, and offices, with construction expected to be completed within one and a half years.


It is noteworthy that this is the second “Rabia Balkhi” market designated for men, while in Mazar-e-Sharif there is already another Rabia Balkhi market for women, where many women are engaged in business and employment activities.

Salma Dam water released for 20 days

The Ministry of Water and Energy said, that in the presence of Sheikh Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the Governor of Herat, and Sayed Abdulsalam Mostoufi Agha, the General Director of the Harirod Zone, the Salma Dam has been opened for a period of 20 days. The ministry announced the release of water from the dam in a statement issued today (Sunday, November 2 ). According to the ministry, the purpose of releasing water from the Salma Dam is to irrigate agricultural lands and to increase the flow of the Murghab–Harirod River.

The Minister of Agriculture emphasizes the importance of protecting and restoring the country’s forests

Mawlawi Ataullah Amri, the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, led a delegation to Nangarhar province and participated in a large public gathering attended by local officials and residents of the eastern provinces. In this meeting, Mr. Amri emphasized the importance of protecting and restoring forests as a national asset and stated that the ministry is striving to utilize all available resources for forest conservation and restoration. The Ministry of Agriculture added that it was decided in this gathering to hire special forest rangers in forested areas to ensure effective protection of the forests.

Fivefold Increase in Imports via Khaf–Herat Railway

Local officials in Herat said, that imports through the Khaf–Herat railway have increased five times compared to last year. Mufti Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Herat provincial government, stated that up to 2,000 tons of commercial goods—especially cement and tiles—are transported daily via this railway to the Herat Rozanak station. Currently, the Khaf–Herat railway plays a key role in the transport of goods. He added that unloading operations occur daily, with most imported goods consisting of cement, tiles, iron, petroleum products, and other construction materials. At the same time, Mawlawi Bashir Mohammad Sirat, head of Herat’s Industry and Commerce Department, said that the railway is the best option for facilitating imports and exports. He explained that land ports often face vehicle shortages, high costs, and long administrative procedures, whereas the railway can significantly reduce many of these challenges.
