The Deputy Minister of Public Works Inspects Progress on Phase Two of Section Four of the Khaf–Herat Railway

Mawlawi Mohammad Ishaq Sahebzada, Deputy Minister for Railways at the Ministry of Public Works of the Islamic Emirate, has visited the ongoing construction of Phase Two of Section Four of the Khaf–Herat railway line.


During the visit, Mr. Sahebzada said that the construction work on this phase is progressing at a desirable speed and with high quality.


He added that the Khaf–Herat railway is considered one of the major and strategic infrastructure projects in the country, and upon completion, Afghanistan will be connected to international markets by rail, playing an important role in expanding regional transportation and trade.


According to officials, Phase Two of Section Four of the railway stretches 3.47 kilometers, starting from the Deh-Sorkh area and extending to the Herat Industrial City. The total estimated cost of the project is 54.6 million dollars, and the work is currently being carried out in an organized manner by the international company Gama Group.

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs met with Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mullah Abdul Manan Omari, met with Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Alireza Bekdeli. During the meeting, discussions focused on bilateral labor relations, the legal transfer of workers to Iran, better organization of the workforce, expansion of joint cooperation, and particularly the assessment of the situation of Afghan refugees. It is noted, the Iranian ambassador also invited the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs to visit Tehran, adding that his country is eager to engage in labor force exchanges with Afghanistan.

Afghanistan and Iran Emphasize the Advancement of Economic Relations

In Tehran, Afghanistan’s Acting Ambassador, Mawlawi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Iran’s Chabahar Free Zone. The Afghan Embassy in Tehran stated that during the meeting, discussions were held on expanding bilateral economic and trade relations, making better use of the Chabahar Free Zone to facilitate exports, increasing transit, and resolving existing challenges.

Afghanistan-Kyrgyzstan Discuss Cooperation in the Electricity Sector

The Ministry of Water and Energy has said in a statement that a delegation led by the ministry’s deputy minister for energy has met and held talks with the Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, Afghanistan was described as a key connector for regional energy projects. Investment opportunities in the electricity sector were outlined, and information was shared on progress made on the CASA-1000 project. Both sides agreed to cooperate on modernising power grids, increasing electricity generation, reducing losses, and strengthening technical cooperation.
