The Nuristan provincial media office announced that in Mandol district, 11 water canals costing 18 million Afghanis have been completed and put into operation.

According to the statement, under the efforts of Governor Alhaj Qari Zainul Abidin Abid, with financial support from UNOPS and supervision by the Department of Rural Development of the DACAR organization, these canals were constructed in villages including Gadawal, Chatour, Paros, Payin Gadawal, Koraj, and others. The project also provided employment opportunities for dozens of local residents.

However, local residents expressed gratitude to the provincial administration, noting that the new canals will be highly beneficial for irrigating agricultural lands and orchards, powering small electric turbines, and operating mills. The canals are expected to irrigate hundreds of hectares of farmland and orchards in the area, significantly improving the economic situation of local farmers.
