Iran to Invest in Herat’s Agriculture Sector


An Iranian delegation has arrived in Herat with the aim of expanding agricultural cooperation, increasing exports and imports, and assessing investment opportunities.


Bashir Ahmad Bahaduri, head of the Herat Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock, said that the two sides have decided to establish a joint-stock company.


Meanwhile, a member of the delegation said that under the new agreement, technical training and agricultural cultivation programs will be implemented in Afghanistan by Iranian experts.


After meeting with agricultural institutions and farmers in Herat province, the delegation reached significant agreements with Afghan counterparts regarding cooperation in agriculture, imports, exports, and specialized training.

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs met with Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mullah Abdul Manan Omari, met with Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Alireza Bekdeli. During the meeting, discussions focused on bilateral labor relations, the legal transfer of workers to Iran, better organization of the workforce, expansion of joint cooperation, and particularly the assessment of the situation of Afghan refugees. It is noted, the Iranian ambassador also invited the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs to visit Tehran, adding that his country is eager to engage in labor force exchanges with Afghanistan.

Afghanistan and Iran Emphasize the Advancement of Economic Relations

In Tehran, Afghanistan’s Acting Ambassador, Mawlawi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Iran’s Chabahar Free Zone. The Afghan Embassy in Tehran stated that during the meeting, discussions were held on expanding bilateral economic and trade relations, making better use of the Chabahar Free Zone to facilitate exports, increasing transit, and resolving existing challenges.

Afghanistan-Kyrgyzstan Discuss Cooperation in the Electricity Sector

The Ministry of Water and Energy has said in a statement that a delegation led by the ministry’s deputy minister for energy has met and held talks with the Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, Afghanistan was described as a key connector for regional energy projects. Investment opportunities in the electricity sector were outlined, and information was shared on progress made on the CASA-1000 project. Both sides agreed to cooperate on modernising power grids, increasing electricity generation, reducing losses, and strengthening technical cooperation.
